Lady Celtics Settle for Second in District

     The Archbishop O'Hara High School girls basketball team lost to Lafayette County 47-41 after a big snow storm interfered with the completion of the Class 3 District 14 Championship for the date it was orginally scheduled. The Championship game had to be postponed to Saturday, February 23rd.  The Fayette County Falcons (20-7) go into Sectional play against  the Stockton Tigers (15-12).

     Making the All-District First Team were Alexa Williams, Cydnee Reese, and Amanda Hull.  Selected as Honorable Mention were Madison Clark and Maddie Champion.

      In taking second place the Celtics had defeated Richmond 54-30 on February 20th to move into the Championship game with Lafayette County the winner of their game with Saint Paul Lutheran 50-36. 
     O'Hara's top three scoring athletes were Alexa Williams 17 points, Amanda Hull 13 points, and Cydnee Reese 8 points.  Williams had five baskets that were three-pointers.  The Celtics went ahead by seven points in the first quarter and led 25-17 by halftime.

     The team began their District competition with an easy win 60-29 in their first round game with Lexington.  The other three teams that won their first round games were Lafayette County, Saint Paul Lutheran, and Richmond. 
     The Lady Celtics' top scorer in this win was Amanda Hull with 17 points.  The contest ended with a running clock.  Richmond  had been the winner of their game with Knob Noster 49-20.

The boys team lost in the first round of their District to Saint Paul Lutheran 62-50.
