On Mardi Gras evening, the Archbishop O'Hara High School varsity basketball teams both beat Smith-Cotton, the girls winning 36-28 and the boys victors at 59-47.
Off to a bad first quarter, the Lady Celtics fell behind 12-2 until Amanda Hull sank two free throws putting the Tigers ahead by eight points by the quarter's end.
The second quarter was another story as the Celtics held the visitors to only one basket while piling on 15 points to lead at the half by four points.
The Tigers could only muster three points in the third quarter as the Lady Celtics went ahead by ten 28-18.
Along the way, Alexa Williams hit three three-pointers for her 9 game points tying Amanda Hull for the Celtics top scoring recognition who got her 9 points inside the first three quarters.
In the boys game, O'Hara led virtually through the entire contest, although the Tigers with their height advantage kept pace until halftime when the two squads were separated by just two points 20-18.
A seven point spurt by the Celtics at the start of the third quarter put O'Hara on top for the remainder of the game, and they were leading 39-26 going into the fourth quarter.
Before O'Hara relaxed their defense within the final quarter, they were ahead 55-33, but the Tigers did manage to get within eleven points with just under two minutes of playing time left.
Two Celtics were in double figures: Kyle Baker with 16 and Desmond McDaniel with 14.
