O'HARA 41 SAINT PIUS 23

O’HARA HANDS SAINT PIUS A 41-23 LOSS O’Hara scored 33 points in the second and third quarters of their District football game with Saint Pius X which was enough to win 41-23 in Friday night’s game. Saint Pius began the scoring with a first quarter field goal by Caleb Baker and a touchdown on a 23 yard run by Anthony Zicarelli. They also scored late in the game after the O’Hara team had their burst of points, adding two touchdown passes to Blake Brown for 49 yards and 10 yards But that was all the offense they could offer as the Celtics picked up 13 second quarter points on a one yard plunge by TJ White and a 14 yard run by Donnie Criswell which provided O’Hara with a slim 13-10 halftime bulge. Donnie Criswell brought the crowd to their feet with a remarkable 85 yard kickoff return to start the second half. Then after a three-and-out by the Warriors, James Tillman ran a 43 yarder for a TD. This was followed by an 11 yard run for TJ White’s second touchdown of the day. In the fourth quarter, O’Hara finished its scoring with a 49 yarder by James Tillman and a two-point conversion by Joe Pepple on a pass from TJ White. On defense Larry Liggett recovered a fumble very deep in Saint Pius’ territory, and Joe Melchior and Alex Rogers made key interceptions. The game had little consequence in the District playoffs inasmuch as O’Hara had already won the District Title in their previous game. However the Crystal Cup sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernia which is kept each year by the winner of the two schools this year went to O’Hara.
