Although the Sedalia Smith-Cotton Tigers nearly caught up in the third quarter, the Archbishop O'Hara High School Celtics held on to win their football game 42-34 on September 26
At one time in the second quarter the Celtics were well ahead 27-7. Sedalia got a one yard TD by Ricky Warren to close the gap a bit.
The Tigers scored three times in he second half to bring the score to 35-34 but failed on a two-point conversion attempt and did not take the lead. A 5 yard run by Noah Aziere, and two passes of 33 yards and 28 yards by Steven Archambault to Caleb Reed and Dalton Zarembra provided twenty points.
O'Hara scored one more touchdown, and with the help of an interception on the 12 yard line with less than a minute left in the game, the Celtics won by a margin of eight points.
For the Celtics, the leading rusher was Gerald Harker with 66 total yards and three touchdowns. The leading receiver was Zach Drake with 111 yards and one touchdown. Peyton Jones and Michael Rowe had interceptions while Jayden Hudson had a quarterback sack.
Austin Evans had a touchdown and Brock Hughes ran for 38 yards. Zach Drake kicked O'Hara's extra points and Michael Briggs was 7 for 13 in passing for 167 yards, throwing for two TD's and running for one two-point conversion.
O'Hara remained undefeated for the season and Sedalia went to 1-2 in the West Central Conference.
O'Hara's Homecoming game is with Saint Pius X this weekend.
