Cross Country Off And Running
For James Keeney, Ronald Clark, Laura Jameson, and Allison Seck, it was their first cross country competion when O'Hara participated in the 14-school Saint Mary's Invitational at William Jewell College on Saturday, September 5th. _____ Freshmen Keeney and Clark completed the course in the 28th and 39th places. _____In the other First Year Runners Race, Seck finished 6th and Jameson came in 12th. _____ The five O'Hara varsity boys were Andy Meyer, Lowell Thomas, Sam Baird, Cullen McKinney, and Travis Peter. Meyer won the medal for 12th place. _____ Only three girls ran on the varsity level, not enough for a team score. Their places were Claire Becker (30), Amy Gaston (71), and Katelyn Gutteridge (76) among the many runners. _____ The schools that furnished particpants were O'Hara, Saint Mary's, Saint Pius, Miege, Lee's Summit, Holden, Rockport, Northtown, Lawson, Penny, Marshall, Oak Grove, West Platte, and Kearney. _____ Coach Mike Martin reports that recent outstanding O'Hara cross country alumni are among the top five runners at their colleges: Max Storms at MU and Stevie Katzer at Longview.
