The O'Hara High School Celtics football team won their game with the Warrensburg Tigers 53-22 to take the West Central Conference Championship on October 17th.
It was the most points scored for this year's team and boosted their Conference record to 5-1. Saint Pius is second with a 4-2 record.
Peyton Jones opened the scoring with a 1 yard run for the Celtics while Kennedy Shaw scored on a 2 yard run for the Tigers. Joey Stark's extra point was met with a two-point conversion by Jacob Carter and Warrensburg had its only lead of the game at 8-7.
O'Hara got two more TD's in the first quarter, a 40 yard pass play by Austin Evans from Michael Briggs and another 1 yard run by Peyton Jones to make the score 20-8.
Peyton Jones scored a third time in the second quarter on a 13 yard pass, and the next two TD's were on short runs of 6 yards and 2 yards by quarterback Michael Briggs.
With the Celtics ahead 41-8, Jacob Carter reached the end zone for the Tigers on a 2 yard run to complete the first half of scoring.
In the third quarter, Peyton Jones caught a pass for 29 yards for O'Hara's 47th point. Kennedy Shaw ran for a 20 yard touchdown before Michael Briggs ended the day's points on a five yarder.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter at which time the game was played with a running clock.
