O'HARA 35 LINCOLN PREP 7
Enroute to a 35-7 win with Lincoln Prep on September 6th, the Archbishop O’Hara Celtics were the visiting team on their own football field.
Lincoln received the initial kickoff from Zach Drake and advanced the ball from their own 29 yard line with five running plays to the 44 yard line, but on their first pass attempt, had the ball intercepted by Austin Evans.
Starting from their own 35 yard line, the Celtics mounted the game’s first scoring drive using eleven plays. The two big gainers were a 16 yard run by Gerard Harker and a 12 yarder by Brock Hughes. Quarterback Michael Briggs ran the final 3 yards on a keeper.
Following a punt by Lincoln, the Celtics began another TD drive from midfield. Aided along the way by a face mask penalty, Gerard Harker and Brock Hughes alternated carries until Hughes plunged for the last yard.
On the next series, Lincoln fumbled to give O’Hara good field position on the 31 yard line. Michael Rowe ran for 15 yards and Austin Evans tagged on 7 more. Brock Hughes scored from the 5 yard line. The extra point attempt was blocked.
Lincoln sustained a scoring drive consuming 13 plays to get on the score board. A 22 yard pass from Seth Fisher to Duane Oayton and a 16 yard run by Colandus Rucker brought the ball close enough for Seth Fisher to score on a 4 yard run. The extra point kick by Saleh Ali was their team’s last point of the contest.
The halftime score was 20-7.
The Celtics opened the second half with a scoring drive. Two pass plays, a 13 yarder caught by Gerard Harker and an 18 yarder by Brock Hughes was followed by a 10 yard run by Gerard Harker to bring the ball to the one yard line. Brock Hughes scored from there and Michael Briggs scored the extra points on a two-point conversion.
Austin Evans halted the ensuing Lincoln drive with his second interception of the game.
On O’Hara’s next possession starting on their own 22 yard line, team advanced all the way to Lincoln’s 18 yard line where a fumble stopped the progress. A screen pass from Michael Biggs to Brock Hughes covered most of the yardage on this drive.
As the third quarter drew to a close, Lincoln kicked a short punt to set up the last touchdown of the game.
Michael Rowe first ran for a 16 yard gain and then followed with a 38 yard scoring run.
