O'HARA WINS DISTRICT FOOTBALL GAME

The Archbishop O'Hara High School football team opened District play on October 14 with a 37-21 win. _____ The Pembroke Hill Raiders trailed throughout the contest but kept the score close until the fourth quarter when the Celtics had two unanswered touchdowns. ______ The game's first scoring was in the first quarter on a fourth down play on a pass from the 20 yard line to Brandon Dennis from Jake Fortin. ______ A long pass play to D.J. Griffin brought the ball to the one-yard line at the start of the second quarter, but the Raiders kept the O'Hara team out of the endzone on three plays. ______ Julian Gidley, who kicked four of the five O'Hara extra points in the game, connected on a 21 yard field goal to increase the Celtic lead to 10-0. ______ Then the Raiders gambled on a fourth down situation around midfield and came up short. _______ It took just one long pass play for the Celtics to bring the score to 16-0, a pass play from Jake Fortin to Brandon Dennis. _______ Patrick Freitag put the Raiders on the scoreboard by breaking away with a 50 yard run and Ben Gallagher passed to Charlie Mueller for a two-pointer to bring the visiting team to within eight points. _______ With less than ten seconds before halftime, the Raiders got a TD by Jak Kittoe who caught a three yard pass from Ben Gallagher. _____ However, the Raiders were not able to tie up the score with a two-point attempt for their extra point. _______ O'Hara scored first in the third quarter on a 17 yard run by Ronnie Sailer to make the score 23-14. _____Pembroke Hill answered with a five yard TD run by Patrick Freitag and again only two points separated the two teams. ______ On the very first play of the fourth quarter, Jake Fortin completed a 32 yard touchdown pass to D.J. Griffin, and near the end of the game D.J. Griffin picked up a Raider fumble and returned the ball 12 yards for the final score of the game.
