O'Hara 10 Center 35

On October 11 the Center Yellowjackets and the O’Hara Celtics met to see which undefeated team in the West Central Conference would remain in first place.

The Celtics came up with one touchdown and a field goal while the Yellowjackets scored five touchdowns to win by a score of 35-10.

Scoring in every quarter, Center had TD’s by Gage King on a 5 yard run, Tony Caldwell on a 2 yarder, an 11 yard run by Tony Caldwell, a 4 yard run by Aaron Johnson, and long 57 yard breakaway by Rtez Dowdy.

The Celtics got a 30 yard field goal just before the half by Zack Drake and a fourth quarter 12 yard scoring run by Larry Bosworth.

In the first quarter, the Yellowjackets controlled the ball throughout while building up their first 13 points. Brandon Jones snuffed out an O'Hara drive with an interception to end the quarter.

Another drive in the second period was halted by an interception by Cameron Blanks. O'Hara'a field goal however was set up in a drive wherein Michael Rowe caught an 11 yard pass followed by a 29 yard pass play from Michael Briggs to Gerard Harker.

The only seven points scored in the third quarter was the long 57 yard run.

Both teams got fourth quarter touchdowns. Center scored in a nine play drive in spite of two holding penalties along the way. O'Hara got their only TD following a long 49 yard pass play involving Michael Briggs and Brett Kies.

With two more games to be played by each of the WCC teams, undefeated Center is in first place. Tied for second place are O'Hara, Smith-Cotton, and Saint Pius X who all have 2-1 records. Warrensburg and Clinton have yet to win a game.

O'Hara'a five leading scorers so far are Zach Drake 50, Brock Hughes 44, Gerard Harker 30, Michael Briggs 28, and Austn Evans 24. Michael Rowe and Larry Boswell have two touchdowns apiece.

Michael Briggs completed ten passes to seven different receivers for 171 yards. This placed him in 7th place for O'Hara passers for a single season. His career total is now 2,029 yards putting him in third place behind T.J. White and Jake Fortin.

Zach Drake is tied for 14th place in catches for a single season with his 21st catch in this game. His 42 total extra point conversions has him in tenth place for career kicks.
