The Archbishop O'Hara High School Celtics soccer team reached the final four in State competion along with the Duchesne Pioneers, the Saint Pius Panthers, and the Springfield Catholic Irish in Missouri Class 1.
On May 31st, the Celtics lost in the semifinals 0-3 to the Pioneers while the Panthers beat the Irish 4-0.
In O'Hara's game, the two squads fought to a 0-0 halftime score. Five minutes into the second half, the Celtics gave up their first goal of the late afternoon and ten minutes later, another goal. The final goal was recorded with only three minutes remaining in the game.
The loss broke a thirteen game winning streak that began on April 16th. It was the first time O'Hara lost by more than two points during the season. It was the first time the Celtics failed to score a goal. It brought O'Hara's record to 18-4. The only other three teams that were able to win a game this year with the Celtics were Bishop Miege, Notre Dame de Sion, and Smith-Cotton. Ten of O'Hara's wins were shutouts.
