O'HARA WINS HOMECOMING FOOTBALL GAME 48-17

An explosive 21 point third quarter made a big difference in Archbishop O'Hara's 48-17 homecoming football win over the Saint Pius X Warriors on Septemer 23. _____ The Celtics scored the first of their seven touchdowns in their first series on a 19 yard pass play from Jake Fortin to D.J. Griffin. ______ In the five plays of the scoring drive, Griffin also hauled in a pass for a 26 yard gain. _______ The Warriors tied up the score at the start of the second quarter on a 29 yard pass from Grant Gavin to Jake Hamerle. _______ The Celtics answered with a nine play drive finished off with a line plunge by Jake Fortin, and Julian Gidley's extra point kick made the score 14-7. ______ Jake Hamerle put a halt on the Celtics' next drive with an interceptions, but when O'Hara got the ball back, they drove in for their third TD. _____ Passes of 30 yards to Brandon Dennis and 26 yards to Brett Coatney were followed by a touchdown catch of 8 yards by Brandon Dennis. ______ The extra point was blocked but the Celtics were up 20-7. ______ Saint Pius attempted to get points before halftime and had to settle for a 27 yard field goal by L.J. Lipari with one second on the clock and a score of 20-10 at the break. ________ O'Hara went to work right away in the third quarter with Ronnie Sailer breaking away for a 56 yard TD. _______ Brett Coatney took a 22 yard pass from Jake Fortin for the next six-pointer. ______ After the Warriors failed on a fourth down gamble, O'Hara'w third touchdown came from a 9 yard quarterback keeper by Jake Fortin. ________ At the beginning of the fourth quarter Saint Pius declined punting and gave up the ball on incompleted passes providing good field position for the Celtics to put their last TD on the scoreboard. _______ This came on a 25 yard pass to Brandon Dennis from Jake Fortin. ______With the score at 48-10, the game was played with a running clock until the Warriors were able to add any points. _______ The Warriors got their final points of the game on a 6 yard pass completion from Grant Gavin to David Kepus.
