Baseball: Celtics & Cardinals Split One-Run Games in Double Header

In two close baseball games played on May 11, O'Hara and Clinton split one-run decisions, the Celtics winning 2-1 after dropping a 7-6 extra inning game. _____ _____ Cullen Rowland pitched a four hit game in the O'Hara win, giving up a run in the last inning. _____ The Celtics got their first run in the first inning when Rowland singled, went to second on an error and to third on a passed ball, and scored on Jake Slocum's fielder's choice. _____ Aaron Mitchell scored the Celtics' second run in the 6th inning, hitting a double, stealing third, and coming across the place on Aaron Stubblefield's RBI single. _____ _____ In the first game of the double-header, O'Hara took a one run lead in the intial inning on a double by Aaron Stubblefield followed by an RBI single by Jake Slocum who was O'Hara's starting pitcher. _____ Slocum ran into trouble in the fourth inning giving up three walks and a single but yielding only one run before being relieved by Logan Halil who threw a strikeout with the bases loaded. _____ The Celtics retook the lead in their half of the inning on two walks and an RBI single by Cullen Rowland. _____ The Cardinals scored three runs off Halil in the next inning with the help of four hits and two errors. _____ The Celtics took the lead back in their half of the inning with three runs, tying the game on a 2 RBI double by Sam Janet and a go-ahead RBI single by Addison Schmitt. _____ Giving O'Hara a two run lead in the 6th inning, Cullen Rowland doubled and came home on an attempted pick-off play in which the ball went into center field. _____ Clinton tied up the contest with three singles in the 7th inning. _____ With Aaron Mitchell on the mound, the Cardinals coaxed a walk, and the runner was sacrificed to second. A scratch single put runners on the corners with one out. Twice a double steal was attempted, failing to advance runners the first time, but realizing the winning run the second time.
