O'HARA 21 SAVANNAH 16
Trailing 9-0 at the half and 16-8 after three quarters, the O'Hara Celtics football team scored 13 fourth quarter points to slip past the Savannah Savages on November 9th by a score of 21-16. _____ The last score of the game was as exciting as the Celtics' previous win over Chillicothe, and again accomplished within the last ten seconds of game time. _____ The clincher was a 20 yard TD pass from T. J. White to Aaron Stubblefield. ______ Up to that time, the Celtics never led in this game. _____ Although not scoring in the entire first half, the Celtics did occasionally move the ball well. ____ Near the end of the first quarter, Savannah pulled ahead 6-0 on a 12 yard run by Quinton Peak. The extra point attempt was blocked. _____ Savannah was trying for a second score in the second quarter, but was stopped when Joe Melchior recovered a fumble on the 15 yard line. _____ With time running out in the first half, Savannah again was on the march and reached the 17 yard line. This time with 10 seconds remaining on the clock, Cameron Vulgamott kicked a field goal. _____ It was the first time this season the Celtics were held scoreless for the first half of a game. _____ After receiving the kickoff to start the third quarter, O'Hara took the ball all the way from their own 36 yard line to score their first TD of the evening. By far, the key play in the series was a 43 yard pass caught by Aaron Stubblefield. T. J. White scored the touchdown on a 14 yard run, and Raphael Spencer ran the two-point conversion to narrow the score to 9-8. _____ Savannah answered with a long 87 yard march consuming 13 plays with Quinton Peak scoring on a 5 yard run and Cameron Vulgamot providing the extra point kick for a 16-8 advantage. _____ With just over five minutes of playing time in the game, the Celtics took the ball 76 yards up the field to score six points. Along the way, Louis Golden caught an 11 yard pass to keep the drive alive, and from 25 yards out, gathered in a T. J. White pass for the TD. A two-point conversion would have tied up the game, but T. J. White's pass failed, leaving the Celtics behind by two 16-14 with just over three and a half minutes left in the game. _____ Savannah played conservative in their next possession, and after three short gains, punted to the Celtics. _____ O'Hara had the ball on the 36 yard line with the clock showing 1:21 remaining. A third down pass play to Aaron Stubblefield advanced the ball to the 50 yard line. T. J. Whites 30 yard pass to Joe Melchior got the ball to the 20 yard line. That's when White connected with Stubblefield for the winner. Julian Gidley kicked the extra point. ____ As a result of the three touchdowns scored by the Celtics, they kept their enviable record of scoring no less than 20 points in every one of their games this season.
