Cydnee Reese Is State Champion In Discus
Cydnee Reese from Archbishop O'Hara High School won the State Championship in girls discus on May 25, 2012. _______ Her toss of 144'11" was well ahead of the second place finisher who had 134'2". ______ The O'Hara girls team score after the first day of competition was tied for fourth in Class 3 and after the second day landed tied for 16th among 62 schools. _____ Tanner Hull took fourth in State in the boys pole vault event. ________ He reached a height of 14'0" with the winner's level at 14'6". _______ The O'Hara boys team score after the first day of competition was tied for 14th and eventually reached 33rd out of 0ver 60 schools. _____ Two girls making All State recognition by finishing in the top eight were Skylar Young, 6th in shot put [39'7"] and Marli Barnett 8th in the 100 meters [12.9].

O'HARA SOCCER TEAM WINS FIRST ROUND OF SECTIONALS
On May 22nd, the Archbishop O'Hara High School soccer team easily won their first round of Sectionals 10-1 with the Summit Christian Academy Eagles on the O'Hara field. _______ The Celtics built up a 4-0 halftime score with Natalie Seck getting the opening goal. _____ Hayley White added two goals and Sydney White scored before the halfway mark. _____ Madison Sallas began the second half with the Eagles' lone goal of the evening. _____ Sydney White and Andi Davis each added two goals apiece during the second half. ______ Rounding out the Celtic scoring, Mary Pat Brage and Makenzie Champion came through with goals.

Six From O'Hara Track Go To State
Led by Tanner Hull in the pole vault event [14'4"], Cydnee Reese in the discus throw [142'.5'], and Marli Bartlett in the long jump [16'2'], there were six track members who advanced from Sectionals as State qualifiers from Archbishop O'Hara High School. _____ All three won their events. _____ Marli Brtlett also qualified in the 100 meter dash by taking a third place. ______ Fourth places were earned by Arniecia Johnson (300 meter hurdles), Montel Caruthers (long jump), and Skylar Young (shot put). _____ Teamwise the girls were 6th among 22 schools and the boys were 13th among 24 schools.

O'HARA BASEBALL PLAYERS ON ALL DISTRICT TEAM
Three members of the Archbishop O'Hara High School baseball team were named to he All-District team. _______ O'Hara was second in District with Eric Sullentrup. Addison Schmitt, and Michael Briggs selected to the All District Team.
O'Hara Wins Girls Soccer District
In Disrict 14 Class 1, the Archbishop O'Hara High School girls soccer team won a close 2-1 victory for the Championship over Pembroke Hill on May 17. ______ As the Celtics go into Sectional play, they have a 17-7 record while the Raiders completed their season at 7-15-1. _____ Sydney White provided the O'Hara team with their two goals and Erin Harvey scored for Pembroke Hill. ______ To reach the finals, Pembroke Hill had defeated Lutheran 6-1 and O'Hara topped Barstow 5-2. _____ In the semifinal game for the Celtics, Sydney White scored twice, and the other three tallies were by Mary Pat Brage, Stephanie Rieger, and Andi Davis.

O'HARA TRACK QUALIFIERS FOR SECTIONALS
From Archbishop O'Hara High School, the following track athletes qualified for Sectional competition. _____ In the District, Marli Bartlett was second in the Long Jump at 17'8" tying school record held by Sara Long. _____ She was also second in the 100 meter dash. ______ Cydnee Reese won the discuss event and was fourth in shot put. _____ Skylar Young took third in shot put. _____ Arniecea Johnson finished fourth in the 300 meter hurdles. ______ Tanner Hull not only won the pole vault but broke his own school record with a leap of 14'4". ______ Montel Caruthers was second in the Long Jump. _____ The 4x100 relay team of Brett Coatney, Jeorge Belcher, Montel Caruthers, and Gabe Spencer had a third place. ______ _______ The following placed fifth thier events just missing qualifying for the Sectionals: Tanner Hull in Triple Jump, Amanda Hull in Triple Jump and in High Jump, and Ife Siffre in the 400 meter run.

O'Hara Girls Soccer Team Wins the WCC Championship
The Archbishop O'Hara High School girls soccer team are the West Central Conference Champions for 2012. _____ The team needed to win their last four games of the season and they had a clean sweep of victories with Sedalia Smith-Cotton, Saint Pius X, Warrensburg, and Clinton. _____ The last time the soccer team was crowned WCC Champs was in 2007. ______ In Conference games the Celtics were 8-2.

TWO NEW SCHOOL TRACK RECORDS AT O'HARA
Marli Bartlett and Cydnee Reese broke new O'Hara school records in track. Marli ran the 100 meters in 12.27 and Cydnee had a discus throw of 142 feet.
