LADY CELTICS ARE RANKED FIFTH

Based on the games played up to December 12th, the Archbishop O'Hara High School girls basketball team was ranked 5th in the Kansas City Star's small class rankings.  The Celtics had a record of 4-1 with Lawson ranked first with a 5-1 record.  Ahead of the O'Hara team were Tonganoxie 2-0, Piper 3-1, and Bonner Springs 2-1.

O'Hara Win Two Away Basketball Games

On December 11th, the Archbishop O'Hara High School boys basketball team won a West Central Conference game with Sedalia Smith-Cotton 79-61.  In a closer game on December 7th the team defeated Father Tolton 57-52.  The Celtics improved their record to 7-1.

O'HARA WRESTLERS WIN TEN-TEAM INVITATIONAL

With a team score of 218 points, the Archbishop O'Hara High School wrestlers won the Bishop Miege Invitational on December 8th.  

First places for the Celtics along with their weight classes were Eero Johnson (285), Spencer Mathews (160), Maverick Griffin (152), Gerard Harker (146), Ethan Ambrose (126), and Nikhil Fenani (113) who wrestled as unattached since O'Hara had two athletes in the same weight class. 

Of the other nine schools represented, Sumner was runner-up with 117 team points.

In addition to the host team Bishop Miege, schools from Bishop Ward, Saint Pius X, Saint Mary's, Spring Hill, Sherwood, Lone Jack, and Prembroke Hill were in competition.

O'Hara wins in Wrestling Over Three WCC Schools

On December 6th, the Archbishop O'Hara High School wrestling team hosted Clinton, Center, and Saint Pius X.  The Celtics won over their three opponents, the closest scoring was against the Clinton Cardinals 41-35.

O'HARA 76 SAVANNAH 52 IN BOYS BASKETBALL

On December 4th, the Archbishop O'Hara High School boys basketball team hosted the Savannah Savages and won 76-52.  The Celtics built up a seven point margin in the first quarter in which Kyle Baker hit two three-pointers and C. J. Naudet added one.   By halftime. O'Hara was ahead 46-30.  Kyle Baker with 20, Isaac Uche with 18, Nick Naudet with 12, and Luke McCarville with 10 were in double figures while Desmond McDaniel just missed with 9 points.  Jesse Dickens managed 21 points for the Savages.

The JV game was very close with the Celtics winning 51-48.  Entering the fourth quarter, O'Hara was down 41-40.  John Burton scored  seven for the Celtics on two three-point shots and a free throw in the quarter.

In an away game, the Lady Celtics lost to Saint Teresa's 65-59.  O'Hara fell far behind over the first three quarters trailing 49-31 entering the final frame.  However playing aggressively, they outpointed the home team 25-7, but it turned out to be six points shy.  Amanda Hull pumped in 27 points for the Celtics before leaving the game on fouls.  Maddie Champion contributed 18 points in the contest.

Wrestling Results from December 1st

 The Archbishop O'Hara High School wrestling team finished fourth at the  Knob Noster Tourney.  .

Ethan  Ambrose, Gerard Harker, Eric Gossman, Stephen Conway, Spencer Mathews, and Eero Johnson won three matches and Maverick Griffin won two.

LADY CELTICS WIN 34-27

The Archbishop O'Hara girls basketball team scored only four points in their first quarter with Pembroke Hill on November 30 but nonetheless had double the score of their opponents.  By halftime, the Celtics advanced to a 15-10 lead on their way to a 34-27 win.  Amanda Hull led O'Hara team with 11 points.  For the Raiders, Ereka Hunt helped by three three-pointers, had 12 points, and Allysa Lisbon ended her game with 10.  Alexa Williams provided the Celtics with their lone three point shot.
