O'Hara Teacher Reaches 27 Gallon Mark

It started in Minnesota in 1956. _____ And on June 26, 2012, Brother Richard made his 216th blood donation to attain the 27 gallon mark. ______ Every time he donated, he gave whole blood which requires eight or more weeks between sessions. ______ Of his total, he donated 135 pints in Missouri and 69 times in Tennessee, but he also gave in Illinois, New Mexico, Indiana, and Minnesota. _______ ________ ________ _______ ADDENDUM: On September 2, 2012, Brother Richard donated blood to the American Red Cross Biomedical Services which increased his overall total to 217.

ALL STATE SOCCER PLAYERS FROM OHARA

The 2012 Missouri Girls Class 1 All-State soccer team included O'Hara athletes. _____ Making the FIRST TEAM ALL STATE were Sydney White and Andi Davis. _____ On the SECOND TEAM ALL STATE were Lindsay Beachner and Lucia Crosetti. ______  Final team ranking showed the Celtics in 6th place with a record of 17-8.  _____ Ahead of the O'Hara (in order) were Saint Pius Festus 27-2, Saint Vincent 20-5, Principia 18-4, Springfield Catholic 20-7, and St. Pius Kansas City 13-10-1. _____ The next four teams were John Burroughs 10-8, Pembroke Hill 6-14-1, Orchard Farm 11-13-1, and Greenwood 16-8.

Coach Jim Monteil Receives Football Award

Football coach Jim Monteil of Archbishop O'Hara High School won the assistant coach award in the recent MO-KAN all star contest in which Missouri defeated Kansas 19-7. _____ Jeorge Belcher from O'Hara was one of the defensive players that excelled in the game.

O'HARA SOCCER PLAYERS RECEIVE POST SEASON HONORS

Archbishop O'Hara High School  soccer players received recognition for an outstanding 2012 season. _____ Sydney White was named Co-Player of the Year; Lucia Crosetti was named Defensive Player of the Year for Class 1 Kansas City Region. ______ Andi Davis, Sydney White, Lucia Crosetti, and Lindsay Beachner made the FIRST TEAM ALL WEST CENTRAL CONFERENCE.  ______  Included in the Second Team All Conference were Mary Pat Brage, Maddie Champion, Hayley White, and goalie Derrianna White. _____ Honorable Mention recognition went to Kenzie Champion, Peyton Podschwit, Natalie Seck. _____ _____ DISTRICT HONORS: First Team All District athletes were Andi Davis, Sydney White, Lucia Crosetti, Lindsay Beachner, Mary Pat Brage, and Maddie Champion. ______ ______ In Class 1, the ALL REGIONAL TEAM in the Kansas City region included Andi Davis, Sydney White, Lucia Crosetti, Lindsay Beachner, Mary Pat Brage, and Maddie Champion. _____ Coach Mary Haggerty had the following comment, "I am very proud of how these young women and the entire soccer team represented O'Hara this soccer season. They were great leaders on and off the field.  Not only did they make me, their parents, and fans proud, but they made our school proud!" _______ These players are candidates for ALL-STATE honors which are yet to be announced.

O'Hara Athletes Support Missouri in MOKAN Track Win

Missouri won the MOKAN Track event over Kansas with support from Tanner Hull and Skylar Young from Archbishop O'Hara School on June 6th. _____ Each scored valuable team points helping Missouri to defeat Kansas in the competition. _____ Tanner placed third in pole vault and Skylar placed second in shot put. _____ Tanner also competed in the long jump and triple jump placing in the top eight in each. _____ Skylar was also in the discus event.

KELLIE BACHKORA IS OHARA SCHOLAR ATHLETE FOR 2012

With a GPA of 4.243 and a four year stint in softball, Kellie Bachkora was named the 2012 Scholar-Athlete from Archbishop O'Hara High School. _____ In addision to lettering in softball for four years she also earned one in track. ______ She was the softball team captain for two years, holds the school record for most career doubles, was named to the First Team All West Central Conferene for all four years, and included two All-District Team recognition. _____ Kellie was a member of the National Honor Society and Class President. _____ She was the top ranked student in a class of 72 graduates and will continue her education at Benedictine College.
